Our Story

We are proud to be a locally based, family owned and operated company. Our roots grow deep in this community, as we have served the Sunshine Coast for 30+ years. Over three decades ago, entrepreneurs Paul and Georalynn Saunders decided they wanted a change of pace. They sold their 15 clothing stores spanning Alberta-wide and moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast to raise their family. Paul sought work that wouldn’t require him to be travelling all the time so he could spend more time with his family, and he began carpet laying – the surface of choice in the 80’s and 90’s. He quickly excelled in the trade and decided to grow a team and open a retail shop in Sechelt named Custom Carpets. Through his generosity with the community, to building a brilliant team that locals loved and trusted, we became a staple in the flooring industry. Eventually the name changed, along with the purple and turquoise 90’s logo, and the showroom carpets to match, and we became Custom Flooring Centres.

After Paul’s untimely passing his son Doug took the lead after already having many years in the flooring business under his belt. With Doug’s passion for business development, team building, and innovative technology, Custom Flooring Centres continues to expand, becoming one of the most progressive flooring companies in Canada.

We are proud to call ourselves a family owned and operated business. Our team members, many who have been with the company for over 20 years, are a strong testament to the success and longevity of the company. We are fortunate to have some of the most talented people in the flooring industry on our team. We give thanks to our loyal community for getting us to where we are at today, and give back by supporting as many local schools, sports teams and non-profits as possible.
